Solvent loss in solvent extraction plant

In the production process of solvent extraction plant, solvent loss is a problem that can not be ignored. Solvent, as a key substance in production, not only affects the quality of products, but also directly relates to the economic benefits and environmental protection requirements of enterprises. According to the source of solvent loss, it can be divided into two categories: inevitable loss and avoidable loss.

I. Inevitable solvent loss

Inevitable solvent loss refers to the solvent consumption caused by the limitation of the process itself under normal production conditions. This kind of loss mainly includes the following situations:

1. Leaching residual solvent in crude oil: Due to incomplete separation of solvent from grease, some solvents will remain in the leached crude oil.

2. Residual solvent in the finished meal: In the process of desolventization, a small number of solvents can not be completely removed and remains in the meal despite various measures.

3. Drain the residual solvent in the wastewater: The wastewater generated in the production process may contain trace solvents.

4. Drain the residual solvent in the tail gas: During evaporation and condensation, the solvent will be partially discharged into the air with the tail gas.

Although these losses are inevitable, they can be minimized by optimizing process parameters and improving equipment design.

II. Avoidable solvent loss

In contrast, avoidable solvent loss is caused by human factors or equipment problems. This kind of loss could have been prevented by management and technical means, mainly including:

1. Poor equipment manufacturing: The design or manufacturing of the equipment has defects, resulting in poor sealing performance, which may cause solvent leakage.

2. Improper operation and maintenance: Workers do not strictly follow the specifications during operation or maintenance, which may lead to solvent waste.

3. Imperfect process: Unreasonable design or improper control of production process flow may lead to inefficient use of solvents.

4. Poor production operation: Poor equipment operation, such as pipeline blockage or pump failure, will increase the unnecessary consumption of solvents.

III. Countermeasures for Reducing Solvent Loss

In order to effectively control the solvent loss, the solvent extraction plant needs to start from the following aspects:

1. Strengthen equipment management: Select high-quality equipment and carry out regular maintenance to ensure good sealing performance.

2. Optimization of process flow: Through technical upgrading and process optimization, the solvent utilization rate is improved and invalid consumption is reduced.

3. Strengthen operational specifications: Provide professional training for employees, strictly implement operational procedures, and avoid human error.

4. Monitoring and analysis: Establish a perfect monitoring system, track the use of solvents in real time, and handle problems in time when found.

In a word, although part of solvent loss is inevitable in production, through scientific management and technical improvement, the overall loss level can be significantly reduced, thus improving economic benefits and reducing adverse effects on the environment. This is not only the requirement of sustainable development of enterprises, but also an important embodiment of social environmental responsibility.
